Data Sharing and Disclosure
AlKoot does not disclose personal data for monetary or other valuable consideration. Personal data may be disclosed only in the following circumstances:
To third-party service providers and processors retained to support the operation of AlKoot’s applications, subject to binding contractual obligations requiring that such processors: (i) implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures; (ii) notify AlKoot without undue delay upon becoming aware of a personal data breach; and (iii) delete or return all personal data upon termination of services, all in compliance with Applicable Laws (as defined herein) in the State of Qatar.
Where such disclosure is required to comply with applicable Law No. 13 of 2016 on Protecting Personal Data Privacy, regulations, or legally binding requests issued by competent authorities in the State of Qatar including but not limited to the Qatar Central Bank, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Transport and Communications and/or National Cyber Security Agency (including any amendments and modifications) (the “Applicable Laws”).
Where such disclosure is necessary for the purposes of pursuing the following legitimate interests of AlKoot, provided that such interests are not overridden by the fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject: (i) detection, investigation, and prevention of fraud, money laundering, or other financial crime; (ii) defence or enforcement of AlKoot's legal rights and claims; (iii) protection of the safety and security of AlKoot's systems, staff, and policyholders; and (iv) compliance with reinsurance, risk transfer, and actuarial obligations.
Where personal data is transferred to recipients located outside the State of Qatar, including reinsurers, international group entities, third-party administrators, and cloud infrastructure providers, AlKoot will ensure that such transfers are made only: (i) to jurisdictions recognised as providing an adequate level of data protection; or (ii) subject to binding contractual safeguards that provide protection equivalent to that afforded under Applicable Law. A list of the categories of international recipients to whom personal data may be transferred is available upon request.
Data Retention
AlKoot shall retain personal data only for the period necessary to achieve the purposes for which it was collected, as outlined in this Privacy Notice and in accordance with the Applicable Laws of the State of Qatar. Personal data will be securely deleted or anonymized once it is no longer required, unless continued retention is mandated by Applicable Laws.
Data Security
AlKoot is committed to ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of your information. Appropriate technical and organizational measures are implemented and maintained to protect personal data against unauthorized or unlawful processing, including accidental loss, destruction, or damage, in accordance with Applicable Laws and recognized industry standards in the State of Qatar.”
Data Breach Notifications
In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to the rights, freedoms, or interests of data subjects, AlKoot shall notify affected individuals without undue delay, providing details of: (i) the nature of the breach; (ii) the categories and approximate volume of personal data affected; (iii) the likely consequences of the breach; and (iv) the measures taken or proposed to address the breach and mitigate its effects. AlKoot shall also notify the relevant competent authorities, including the Qatar Central Bank, in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and any sector-specific notification obligations under QCB Insurance Regulations.
